I worked at Schlotszky's Deli when I was 18. The manager was trying to get me to sleep with him in exchange for extra hours. The assistant manager was trying to get me to model bondage toys for him at his house, and the crew leader was stealing money out of my drawer to try to get me fired. Everyone else that worked there didn't speak English. Needless to say, I didn't work there very long.

I worked at a local ice cream shack (yes, it was a shack). They would not let me touch anything or do anything at all, because I was a new hire, but they refused to show me how to do anything. They would complain that they were so busy, but would talk to each other and scream into their cell phones even when there were lines of customers. They gossipped right in front of me about how they "didn't want no white hobag to steal they job when they got they babies to support". They would have to make an order three or even four times because they would spill the ice cream or use the wrong toppings or get the size wrong, and then just throw the mistake on the floor. Even the manager was incapable of making a banana split, and on her fourth try told the customer "Here yo goddamn sprinkles, bicth." The one time I was allowed to touch anything, they told me to do stock, but didn't say what they wanted stocked, or where, or anything. I did the cups but they were unmarked. So when I was in the back cleaning the ice cream off the floor because the stench was enough to make one gag, I heard one of them scream "WHAT MOTHAFUCKER SCREWED UP THESE CUPS?"

Since I was getting payed below minimum wage and had several far better opportunities lined up, I put in my resignation and haven't looked back since. Well, except for the time that my former co-worker left a machine on all night and the place caught fire. Great job, especially for someone named, I kid you not, Precyse. I just rolled my eyes and rode on by when I heard the news the following day,

Working as a leasing consultant at a townhouse community. I had to work 10hr days (most of the time sitting staring at the clock), had no computer only a typewriter (it was 2005!!), my supervisor was a pathological liar (luckily she got fired, but not until after I quit), and spies would come in and pretend to be prospective renters and then tell your boss everything you did wrong (I got in trouble for that and was told by one of my bosses that maybe I wasn't right for this kind of work, even though I rented the most units than anyone else in the company for that month!)

I had a rural paper route a few years back, You had to pick the papers up at 12:30am and wouldn't finish until 4:00am and it was seven days a week, I would have to pay a sub $50.00 for one night if I needed some time off.
