If you could get the US to do just one thing to remove illegal aliens in America, what would it be?

Hey, don't just cop out and say soemthing like "enforce the current laws" either. We know that is not going ot happen.

That's a hard question to answer! I worked for a medical billing group and I can't tell you how many illegals go to our hosp. and have babies. They have no ins. and because the babies are born in the U.S. they become citizens and the get Medicaid. My father born and raised in the U.S. is very sick and we can't get any help for him... I think we need to protect our boarders better, and lock up the people that hire the illegals and fine them huge fines. Illegals come here for a better life and will work for next to nothing, but in the process the Americans pay there way. We can't feed or care for our own because the illegals are taking everything... Americans need to work and quit being so damn lazy...

That's not fair. You toss out a hypothetical question and then state that a specific answer is unacceptable because "it won't happen". So what's the point of asking a hypothetical question? *Anything* we say is almost certain not to happen. Enforcing the current laws is probably as likely as just about anything else anyone here might suggest we do.

Later edit: I told you. Do you really think any of the below, copied from answers you have received here, are any more likely to happen than enforcement of current laws? If so, which one(s)?

I have no problem with aliens being here as long as they work to becoming citizens. They should be taking English language classes so they don't end up being just a farm worker or cleaning person. Their children also need to learn the language. I don't believe they should receive free health care until they become legal citizens, but if they are working a legit job, they should be able to qualify for the insurance through their employer. It's the bad apples in the crowd that make every alien look bad and if we could concentrate on what good could come out of this, maybe they wouldn't be so afraid to file the proper paperwork to become citizens. Just remember it's the aliens who do the jobs us Americans don't want to do, so we should help them out if they are willing to do the process the proper way. If not, then they should be deported. You have to also remember, that not one person who is a citizen naturally came from this country. Everyone came from another country and came to live here like they are trying to do. So as long as they do it the right way, I have no problem with them staying.

As a proud Canadian, I listen with interest when Americans speak about illegal aliens in America, when they in fact mean Mexicans. When we say illegal immigrants, we mean all nationalities. But in answer to your question, I would hire all the unskilled labour to pick cotton, raspberries, fruit pickers and for sure all the janitors and Wendy's clerks from mainstream Manhattan, Chicago, Seattle upper burbs. Should be no problem. That way there wouldn't be any work for your "Illegal Aliens" and they would go home.

I think they should just take the borders down, Run the whole continent as the United Mexican Canada, North America or something. Wouldn't have to worry about that issue, Would be non existent. Think about it, there aren't just Mexicans in the states there are every nationality you can list there, everyone is seeking to get to the states or Canada for money purposes, or health care or everything we have to offer here. They send the money back to India, Poland, where ever to support the families they left behind. Its not right, but its happening.

I would give them permanent residency status and welcome them to America.

Think about it, they are already working in the country. They would then have to pay taxes and the rich people that hire them would not have to feel guilty.

Oh wait! The rich don't feel guilty because they pay them so poorly and if they were to become American citizens then the people that hire illegal aliens would have to pay them a decent wage instead of the one or two dollars an hour they pay them now.

The US needs to prosecute employers for hiring them AND stop all SSI assistance and welfare assistance. Not allow their children into the school systems and refuse them medical care if they don't have the $ up front.
No social security number..no services.
