I'm a George Clooney fan, but I will not offer up a tirade here. He tends to have a very dry sense of humor, albeit, at least in public. One can understand the need for such protective maneuvers even if they be somewhat innate.
Having said that, I did not hear this. Is there any truth? I hope not. Obviously, I do not know Mr. Clooney personally but despite his sometimes biting sarcasm ,he is unaffected and generous. I don't believe he would ever be malicious, especially to someone who is terminally ill or dying.
If he were ever to engage in such an action, he would have to first stop and think about his own loved ones. Rumors are such horrible things. Speculation is not good either. However, if this rumor is floating around I can surmise it perhaps showed up on one of many political blogs.
George is a staunch democrat and has received a lot of ribbing from Republicans for what they consider liberal viewpoints. He, in turn, does not agree with many of their viewpoints. In my opinion, and no I'm not riding the fence, neither side is to blame: it's either none or all. We are all Americans, but it never ceases to amaze me how during a pre-election/election year everyone races to unbury the "deep, dark, and dangerous" secrets of the other side or paint them as unfeeling and uncaring.
I feel sorry for our country, our men and women fighting, Democrats, Republicans, innocent civilians, especially children on both sides. What a sad, sorry mess. While it may seem I've digressed from the point above I believe these may be the underlying issues at the heart of this rumor. On the other hand, it may stem due to other motives.
Nonetheless, if people would just use common sense, compassion, and be more balanced and moderate in their political viewpoints, a lot of heartache could be resolved. Some will argue- no that does not reflect passion; it's indiffernece. I don't agree. I believe we all have a path and life is hard enough. Ugliness, hate, insults, and accusations never solved anything.
And frankly, as much as I adore George, I'm disgusted by the banter that has slid back and forth between people like him and Bill O' Reiley. Simply citing that as one example.
Do not intend to add more fuel to the fire. I do want to however address a point I feel that may be behind those actions.
Having said that, I can't believe for one second he or anyone else with half a heart would make such comments. When someone is terminally ill, you don't simply lash out at them because they've disagreed with your politics in the past or because their Democrat or Republican.
Everyone needs to take a page out of Jesus's book and extend the hand of compassion and sympathy. And this last statement may cause others to debate further, but I think it needs to be included herein. Some will undoubtedly argue it too simple. Many of the problems mentioned above, though, stem from not picking up that book more.

Maybe it was Fred Thompson. Fred is a little delusional and I have heard that he has cancer.
