Personally, I am sick and tired of hearing about the guy and wish he would just retire.

The guy is yesterday's news. I'm sure at one time he was a talented well-liked player but now is only playing to improve on statistics

I like him , because he is arguably the best player to have played the game, and he is about to break the most coveted record in baseball history...Even A Rod Thinks so....

I like him for being genuine the many times I've met him personally, spending time chatting, signing autographs, shaking hands and not acting like the media portrays him to be. He visited my place of employment (EA Sports) lots of times, as well as when he visited our neighborhood (San Mateo/ Foster City, CA) while injured (never acted short or impatient to us after getting his knee operated on) before moving to Beverly Hills.

I respect him for his talent on field, the chance to surpass a long standing record, the way he entertains us with massive HR's and being part of the SF Giants franchise.

If the suspicions become true, proof is revealed about use of illegal substances and a confession is finally released, then the respect and love from most would dissolve and he'd be just a "face in the crowd" and nothing special. Let justice run it's course, and the truth will come out. In that case, he'd be an OUTCAST!!!!! No HOF and no records recognized.

I have met Bonds personally on two occasions. Both times I got chat with him a while and he was very polite. So, I like him and I am not from San Francisco.

If he did cheat, well shame on him! But we all stood by in the late 90s and early 2000s and loved to see those balls fly out of the park! So if you ask me, if you were a fan back then, you are just as guilty for supporting MLB. And that MLB didn't crack down sooner, well that is their own fault.

I don't mind him and he still can hit.

let this san fran answer those fools trying to diss us..first off the idea that bonds head grew 3 sizes (which it hasnt) came from a off remark made in MAXIMUM MAGAZINE..yes a real news source...second do i think bonds took something? yes...and? here's something for you..if you read bill james baseball abstract he clearly writes how babe ruth USED A CORKED BAT MORE THAN ONCE AND WAS BUSTED FOR IT IN 1923 IN AN AUGUST GAME...JAMES ACUTALLY DEFENDS THIS ACT.

so while bonds might have been juiced..most if not all of RUTHS hr's were from a corked bat (makes perfect sense now doesnt it when you see that swing).

EVEN GEORGE SISLER was BUSTED WITH NAILING NAILS INTO HIS BAT..makes sense why he hit so high for an average..god know's what cobb and others like him did to theirs.

so what's more a of a cheat? taking juice? or fixing the equipment?

and please by all means give me a thumbs down-but the facts are right there in history books and in major league documents. the rule about corked bats was actually PUT INTO PLACE because OF RUTH-in 1923-being caught cheating...he actually contiuned THIS PRACTICE AND WAS BUSTED MORE THAN ONCE.

You're sick and tired of hearing about Bonds, and yet you managed to post this question. Better keep a barf bucket and a blanket handy, there's more illness and exhaustion ahead for you.

I don't know Bonds personally and so the question is irrelevant.

I like how he plays baseball. And that's all of it.

I do not care for the man. He's still the most feared hitter? He pinch hits most of the time any more because his knees are giving out on him.

As far as his home run record is concerned, how can a person who barely hits more than 40 home runs in a season start blasting balls out of the park? Don't tell me the pitching wasn't all that great because I will show you that's not true.

I look at it this way if Selig did not want the record to be broken he would have every pitcher intentionally walk him!

Barry Bonds is the Ty Cobb of his generation.

Read up on Ty Cobb and you will get what I mean.

They are very much alike in personality.

I give him credit for being a good baseball player. I think he cheated and I DO NOT respect him for that reason. I hope he hurts himself this year and he has to wait until next year to break the record.

People (not the media) started hating Barry Bonds somewhere around August 15th, 2001 when it became apparent that he was about to break McGuire's season record.
Since then, in their minds, they have validated their hate with: Balco suspicion, infidelity to his wife, not being nice to the media, tax evasion...all things that if someone on the team that they liked, would have been overlooked.

Me personally, I like Bonds. What he does on his personal time is his business. And if you are upset because "you know" he cheated, then dont pick and choose, be upset with anyone who has ever cheated in any capacity
