Get a Siamese. They don't have a clue they're a cat--actually think they are people. but a young one can be trained to act like a dog, fetching and guarding.

My cat acts jus like a dog. When my doorbell rings she growls and runs to the door.

I taught my cat to play fetch when she was a kitten, she pretty much acted like a dog, just train he/she when they are young.

Not that scenario, but our chihuahua acts like a cat. I don't know if all of them do, but our is very catty.
