not overkill.... stable which you have one putting on the back too.. below-gravel filters kinna suck.. My previous tanks had below-gravel filters and that i consistently had themes with Ich and different parasites..because of the fact that switching to a canister filter out I extremely have in easy terms had one prevalence of Ich and became cured quickly, the place as till now i could never get it below administration....FYI, in case you shop utilizing below-gravel filters, verify that isn't the only one you employ. if that's the only one u use, weekly water differences are a could... or perhaps nonetheless u are not absolute to get all the crap that settles below the fewer than-gravel filter out.. as nicely below-gravel filters dont pass the water adequate to have the chemical differences ensue as they could interior the water...
