As a Cubs fan, I think Sammy did roids. I remember at the beginning of his career he was a little skinny guy, who barely hit 20 home runs in a season, and was more likely to steal more bases than he hit homeruns. Then all of the sudden he got huge, started pounding out homeruns. Then all the sudden he couldnt hit anything. It just doesnt make sense.

I don't defend Bonds, I usually attack him. I am dissapointed in Big Mac, and I suspect Sosa. I never liked Giambi but I respect him more now. And it broke my heart when Rafael Palmeiro got busted because I grew up a Rangers fan and he was always a great cornerstone of that team. When I start defending players is when players who have obviously never used start getting thrown under the bus and into the rumor mill just because they've played good long careers or somebody just doesn't like them. How anybody could think that Biggio and Bagwell were juicing up-needle buddies I'll never understand. David Ortiz comes out and says he understands how alot of these Latin American players are testing positive and all of a sudden he's juicing. It's rediculous!
Sosa has never tested positive for 'roids, he's never been linked to any of these 'roid clinics or underground drug dealing rings. And he retired; he didn't "take a year off" and he did so because he had a dismal 2005 plauged with injuries and a constant bombardment of bad press and bad fans all based on speculations. 2004 wasn't much better. He was out of his beloved Chicago, the Cubs had turned their backs him and he pushed them into the situation. He just wanted to fade away into the sunset. But nobody loses that competitive edge and he believed he could still play. So he got into shape and came back. He's cleaned up his act as far as he's back in better shape, he's got a better attitude, he's finally taking a role as a leader not a primadona. He may have slimmed down but he lost the gut, not the arm strength. He's still built like a dump truck, just not a fat one.
Here's the jist of it all. People are going to attack Sosa, and Bonds, and McGwire, etc, etc, etc. Obviously you're not a Sosa fan; you don't have to be. That's what makes the diversity of this country and this sport great. But the fact is that everybody else has either tested positive or admitted to using designer enhancers that can't be detected once a lab was raided or paperwork turned up, blah, blah, blah. Sosa, has never tested positive and the only thing that can honestly be proven about him is that for a long time he was a jackass and a bad team mate. Did he juice? Probably. But I'm not going to pass judgement on him until its proven.

Yes, Sammy Sosa bulked up quickly which leads most to believe that he did use steriods. But think about this...
He has been tested many times from 1998 til now, according to sorces, and has never once tested positive.
Also, Sosa corked his bat a few years ago. During an AB, his bat shattered and corked fell out.
Some one who used steroids would use cork too. Steriod players believe that Steriods is above everything and that it puts them at a greater level than anything else would.
Why would some would use steriods and cork his bat? Think logically about it, the odd of that being the case are almost zero.

So what is the point you are trying to get to us? It makes no difference what you or I think the fact is he has never tested positive. If your question would have been "How far can a player hit a baseball using a corked bat and on steroids" I might have said that Sosa once hit one 600 feet in homerun derby.

You're right. It's apparent that this was going on. The only thing I wonder is, (if in their minds) it wasn't illegal at the time, then what is the big deal to say I took some supplements that helped me.
It's like taking vitamins or drinking Red Bull. It's not illegal so what's the big deal?

It's called preponderance of evidence. Innocent until PROVEN guilty. What would you like to see happen to Sosa? Baseball cant suspend him on suspicion alone.
