Ya, "students" always seem to be a pain in the butt......either communists or fundamentalist or whatever......

It is worth noting that most of the worst islamic fundis out there are young...angst ridden kids are so easy to influance

I saw that too.

But poor? C'mon, he's been KNIGHTED!

I love his other books ("The Ground Beneath her Feet" is a favorite), but I actually did not enjoy the Satanic Verses one bit. In literary terms even, it was just not a good book.

I wish people would leave him alone as well. How is what he does any Muslim's business since he's not Muslim himself?

POOR? Maaaannn that guys rich! How else does he get beautiful women to marry him? LOL

EDIT: They are students...give ppl good paying jobs and they don't go out and protest as much as those that are students or those that are jobless or aren't paid well. --A thought from a discussion with My Paki-American Arabic teacher :)

He is old and has a young wife and he is rich not poor......
persoanlly I think that they should just stop printing his books but sentencing him to death is a harsh.....next time just know that Pakistani government talks more then they do anything else.... he has money they are not going to hang him, he would probably just pay them.... they were probably protecting him when he went in hiding..

He dared to speak his mind about Islam.

Religious fundamentalists do not want anyone to have a mind much less speak it.
