Michael Jackson owns the majority of the publishing rights of the Beatles songs, but Paul McCartney gets royalties from Beatles album sales. There is a difference between the royalties you get from publishing rights and the royalties you get from album sales. As for the publishing rights: Michael owns 70%. Paul McCartney and Yoko share the other 30%. George Harrison owns all his publishing rights from 1968 on and Ringo owns all his. Unfortunately, Michael owns the controlling interest of Lennon & McCartney's rights. But Paul did not make most of his fortune from the Beatles. Paul himself owns publishing rights to other artists such as Buddy Holly. He also owns alot of broadway musicals and other like projects. OF course, he owns all the rights to Wings and his solo career and he tours alot now. That is where he made his fortune.

He doesn't own the rights to the Beatles songs, but he does own shares in them.
He also owns a publishing company, which includes the rights to his own songs post Beatles, as well as the Buddy Holly catalogue, and several other songs - including Unchained Melody which is one of the most covered and songs ever, after Yesterday.
He has sold millions of solo albums and has toured every few years since the early 70's. He also has various business interests, and he and his children were left the Linda McCartney food range after Linda died.

He still gets songwriter royalties from his solo and Beatles stuff (just not as much as his solo stuff since he doesn't own 100% of the rights). He also gets money from album sales, merchandise, investments, etc.
He also inherited a lot from his wife, Linda, who was wealthy in her own right (family money and her vegetarian food company)

He gets some royalties and all the monies from his solo efforts and I believe there is some sort of tax break for artists in the U.K. He probably invested his money, as John did, and lives well off of that.
