Life is the SEA and the Sea is ME!
That's my best metaphor, cause it helps me to understand everything I need to know about life.....
FOR E.G.:-
sometimes life is cruel and harsh and then I take my metaphor and realize that sometimes I AM cruel and harsh as well..... that helps me to try and improve myself (because, I understand what a negative effect a harsh and cruel nature has).....
SO by seeing life as myself, I have come to realize my own faults and drawbacks. Tho it has not helped me to fully correct
myself.... after all life's not perfect

as the meat is cooking barbeque you go inside to get the rest of dinner just to find out the dog stole the meat while you were gone, then the phone rings and a friend invites you out for a fancy dinner
