Since Sosa has never been suspended for steroid usage, your question is based upon a false premise. Don't make this a habit.
When we see how McGwire gets treated on the 2008 Hall ballot, we'll have a better concept of how Sosa will be considered. I think he makes it eventually.
-----
Edit: well, foo, I coulda swore the question read "suspensions". No, suspicions... anyway, yeah, the lynch-mob style accusations, which are based upon circumstantial evidence but nothing concrete, won't help, nor will his "no habla Ingles" Congressional testimony. It doesn't look good, but no one knows -- no one KNOWS -- what went down. (Okay, granted, some few know, but they aren't talking, yet, if ever.) And we may never know. The writers will, I think, eventually consider that their message has been sent and turn the tide in favor of McGwire and, presumably, Sosa. But we can't yet be confident of that.
Buncha hypocrites if they do slam the door; some subset of them cast MVP votes for Sosa and McGwire and Bonds over the years, even the "suspicious" years -- and later, with no harder information, they turn and shun? Even for sportswriters, that sort of action is totally lacking class. And basis.

Sosa has never tested positive for steroid abuse and has not been linked to any of the scandals such as Balco. All anyone has ever gone on is suspicions. He has been judged without any proof in the eyes of the public and the media. But with over 600 homeruns, 1600 RBI's, and 2400 hits he should easily make it into the HOF.

Based on stats, he should be in. Based on his history, who knows. He is the only player to hit 60+ more than once. He changed baseball in Chicago, and was one of the most feared hitters for a long time. If he gets #600, he should be a lock! (he deserves it without 600)

I think the voters will express their anger at his suspected cheating - he was never suspended or even proven guilty of any steroid use - by not voting him in during his first year or two. Once that anger wears off, I think he'll eventually make the Hall.

Not only 'roid suspicions, but he's been caught using a corked bat. Now, if it was up to me, i'd kick him and bonds out of baseball, but *sigh*, it isn't.

The court of public opinion is not the court of law. We don't need insurmountable proof. Of coruse he cheated. Trust your eyes and gut. With that being said.... its disgusting but he will make it cuz writers are star-fers and want to make friends with players instead of maintaining their credibility.
