I hear my parents talk about growing up in the 70's and I turn green with envy. From what I hear, the parties were phenominal ... I mean, people in their 40's & 50's are STILL talking about them to this day. Let's not forget that the legal drinking age was 18, so you didn't hear of underage kids getting busted and parties being sabbotaged by the police.
How about the cars? Today's cars are boxy pieces of ***. I like to hear an engine rumble and see a hood scoop or two. How about burnouts? Burnouts weren't illegal in the 70's but they are now (at least in my state.)
Also, the music was unlike anything heard today. I would die to see Robert Plant freak out on stage or Jim Morrison parade around as if he was dancing with Indians around a ring of fire. CREATIVITY, TALENT, *cough* GOOD DRUGS *cough* ... bands lack these things today.
My Mom went to a ZZ Top concert in the 70's and I recently attended one last month. When we compared stories I realized that the concert she attended was clearly more exciting than mine.
P.S.
I saw your answer to the question about FOB. Amen, sister ... bring back the GOOD music!

I was born!!, but apart from that there was a whole new sound in music (Disco), some of my favorite films were released (Rocky, Alien.... if I was a girl I'd say Grease). I think Margaret Thatcher was prime minister by then making her the first female one! (some would see that as a major step forward).
but best of all was that Tizwaz was on TV every Saturday morning, Woohoo!!

...about 5-6 years, until the disco craze started. The 70's redeemed themselves via Punk and PiL!

early childhood. I loved growing up then, but I wouldn't have wanted to be in my teens then. Too much free love, drugs, and confusing things going on.
