there would be no problem, hard drives work independently. they do not depend on what the specifications of one from the other not like memory chips where the clockiing speed should be the same. My computer at home has one Seagate and the other a Fujitsu with totally different specs from each other.

You won't have any problem. No particular advantages or disadvantages to the setup.
They are both fast drives and you may notice the 1000 rpm will load a little quicker, especially large audio or video files.

It's quite OK to mix hard drive speeds, even hard drive types in one machine, of course the 10000 rpm drive will run faster than the 7200 rpm unit

well it sounds like you dont think theres any advantage at all...
I don't see why it would hurt you to have to different speed harddrives. It's all about how fast you can access information. One is slower and one is faster. No big deal. They dont have to be the same rpm

Of course it's okay, but one will be slower than the other. If you are going to set them in RAID mode, Don't do it!!

shouldnt be a problem but dont get the seagate 500 barracuda(harddrive problems) i would think that it would RAID at 5400RPM mayb
