The best way to determine a reputable mechanic is to ask around. Talk to other owners of cars like yours, they're likely to have had repairs done.

Personally, I go with the dealer. The mechanics on staff work on those vehicles every day and the dealer wants you to be happy with their service, since it could mean a future sale, where the real money lies.

I've taken both my cars to the dealer and had repairs done for free or much less than I'd expect to have paid at a local garage.

For best results in finding a reputable mechanic ask your friends and neighbors. Most of them will have had good and bad experiences with local auto mechanics. The good ones will always come well recogmended from word of mouth.
I know of no web site that is localized enough to suggest you access.
You will be surprised to learn who your good mechanics are where ever your living by asking the people you know and trust.

great question... the best way to find a good mechanic is to ask the local people... they have lived there and know these things..
when u go to a bar or a store, simply ask the manager there who the best mechanic is..

if u dont want to do that.. go to "yahoo local" and type in "mechanics"

Yes. Go to www.cartalk.com (I think it's under "car files" section of the site.) People recommend mechanics by areas there.
It's a reputable website.

If you are a member of AAA, they have a list of recommended mechanics and shops that have been approved by other members. Good luck
