I've seen this cliche on here and it got me thinking...
What motivates white men who date black women primarily? Guilt? Forbidden? What?
Or, am I supposedly viewing my white fiance as a trophy subconsciously, according to these cliches?

I just guessing, but since most the famous porn 'actresses' are white, and young men all look at porn, the white woman could become a sexual 'trophy'. White men who date black women have found someone they respect and relate to, not just a sex object they 'own'.

Ok I'm a sociology major and according to a research study done by 2 sociologist, white men date black women b/c they are indeed forbidden fruit. But that is not to say that all white men who date black women feel that way. There are those who have very strong feelings for the female and may even want to spend the rest of their lives with her b/c they truly love her.

I agree with a poster up there, Cellar Door. It's the women who want the kids usually, not the men. You are hurt but don't be turning it into the race thing. Look at the reasons you broke up, not skin colours. There is good and bad in every person.

I have never heard of black men referring to white women as trophies, unless you talk about some of the professional athletes and even there I don't hear about it.

I've dated white men before and I know for a fact that they viewed me as a strong black woman that's smart, gorgeous, great personality and gorgeous. Oh did I say gorgeous already? OK! Well there it is! I've got it all! LOL!

Trophies? I viewed my one white ex as an amazing woman which she was and is. We're still friends, if she was only a trophy why would I still bother being friends with her?

I think that in 2007 we can say that people usually date, because they like the person. I think that the younger generations of Americans usually don't dwell on race.
