castration does not stop a pedophile it simply makes the pedophile more imaginative. They are incurable, and need to be separated from those they would hurt permanently.
I'd like to see them sent to an island somewhere so they could prey upon each other and not our children.

Castrating them will not prevent abuse. A penis is only one thing they use to abuse children. Paedophiles should not be allowed to live in society. They should be locked away for life, or better still put to sleep

Impossible to reverse the exercise when it's discovered that the guy was innocent. after an initial guilty verdict.
It would seem appropriate that in those cases where the accused is actually found not guilty, an female accusers or witnesses for the prosecution should automatically have radical mastectomies, radical vulvectomy, hysterectomy and oophorectomy which would leave them in roughly the same position as their intended victim.

This probably wouldn't cure them. But it would be a good start!
I don't think we'd succeed in getting this accepted as a legal punishment.
But from what I understand, the STOCKS are still on the statute books. Bring them back.
Lock a guy in the stocks, perhaps in the middle of Hyde Park. Put a sign around hs neck stating his crime, have 1 policeman on duty to ensure no-one kills him. Leave him there for the duration of his 48 hour sentence.
Advantages
Saves on prison costs.
The felon is cured - would you do it again?
Disadvantages
Prison guards would lose their overtime.

No, I don't believe in needless cruelty. They should be seperated from those they may harm, or if necessary put down like any crazed animal, dispassionately and without malice.
Justice should serve the good of people and society, not the darker impulses of armchair sadists getting a thrill out of the suffering of another living being and patting themselves on the back for their own righteousness the whole time.
