I always provided my own lightbulbs inside. However, I have never rented a place that did not at least prvoide blinds for the windows.

We take care of the little stuff. Like lightbulbs, hanging our own drapes and blinds, taking care of the yard. Our rent is cheap for the area, and we don't bug the landlady unless it's serious. Like replacing our faucet and having a contractor come out. We even put in our own ceiling fans without telling her. The rent is too good to tick her off and give her a reason to evict us. If you've got good rent, do NOT make the landlord mad! A few bucks for light bulbs is nothing compared to the cost of moving and deposits and all the hassle.

Well, I think the window coverings is bogus, although you would know that going into the situation. The light bulbs, I feel they should be working/pretty much new when you move in, but after the mold problem that I am having to move from (in our place less than a month) I wouldn't hate your landlord too much for it. So long as the rest of the place is nice and the price is fair.

I used to be a property manager and we would provide the tenant with light bulbs when they moved in, after that it was the tenants responsibility to replace them. We also provided blinds or shades. I worked for a large apartment community, this may differ for a small company or private landlord. My in-laws are landlords and they provide the initial light bulbs, but when I lived in one of their apartments I did have to put up my own blinds.

my parents own houses that we rent out and always suppolied light bulbs and such unless someone took them that lived their previously and we didn't notice. We just make the house look neat and put up curtains that you don't ahve to keep. but you can add whatever you want in your house and take it with you when you go :)...is your rent really cheap? Our tenants complain about every little thing....it seems that you would tell the landlord about the light fixtures :) thats not your responsibility unless you don't like the ones that are already up :)

My place has its own blinds. I don't think I have ever had a place that didn't. Also, my complex changes all of the different types of lightbulbs when they go out in my apartment (they change the airfilters too). Maybe I am just lucky and you are unlucky, I don't know. Why not ask your neighbors if they are treated the same way? It's worth a shot.

I'd RATHER replace my own light bulbs, because waiting on MY apartment complex, we'd be sitting in the dark. As far as windows, I wouldn't give them more than a normal cleaning. If they want special window treatments, they should fork up the cash for them. Read your lease.

I haven't needed to have any replaced since I moved in but my building manager will replace them if I told him I needed some. I agree that it is bogus to have to do those yourself.

My place had blinds...and all the bulbs were in working order when I moved in but I replace them when they blow. Even renting doesn't exempt you from that.
