I sometimes have to go overnight on business but my cat is not a house cat and yet I need to make the house available to her for various reasons. There are all kinds of critters, at least 3 different racoons, at least 1 opossum, other cats, etc. that also use it. How can I make it accessible to her without the other critters?

I don't mind the critters themselves. It's their natural odors/scents that linger throughout the entire house, in the drapes, carpet, etc. and the unbelievabe mess they make. Also, my cat won't go in when she knows there are other critters inside that don't want her in the house.

there is a chemical you can get that is a deterrent to wild animals, some wal-marts have it, also southern states and other fine farm stores will have it, i forget the name. its safe, it just smells like a mix of predators marking scents.

I thought rock was dead in the Eighties, I hated Hair Bands and Punk and Disco. The 90s proved me wrong when I heard Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots and Sound Garden. It seems like rock might be dying again now that those bands are gone but it just depends on what you like. It you don't like the new stuff at the time then it will seem like rock is dying. Of course music has to change or we would all be sick of the same old thing. It is harder these days to be a supergroup because nobody can match record sales of the past. People these days just download the music they want. Alot of the time it is just one song and not the whole album. In the 70s I would buy an album not for one song but for all of them. Also for the cover art of the album and what it had to say. Younger people today don't have the feeling of owning an actual physical collection. They just put music into a computer and thats it. Rock will never die because there will always be that young musician out there that is good enough to come up with something new but use the influences of the past to do something like Kurt Cobain did.

there are a few solutions, spray it with cat spray, you can get from some grocery stores or walmart or target, it keeps away all animals and hopefully your cat will understand its still home that way animals will hate the smell it helped me. also just in case you dont want the risk of your cat running away catch one of those animals in the act a sray them in the face it worked for me lol. also you could just block it off and let your cat out in the day it will always come back home at night. lastly and the least helpfull get rid of your cat if you dont want all those critters in you house.

the second one is easyest becouse i never had a cat door when i had a cat it would just meow at the door for someone to let her in.

hope this works for ya

I have a doggy door into a small fenced yard. I'm always worried about that too but I don't know of any other animals coming in. You mght want to put a small fence around the thing, show your cat how to get in & out, it might deter the other animals, or they may not be able to figure out how to get in and out. Other than that I just don't know.

Buy an Electronic Kitty door. Kitty will wear a tiny transmitter on his/her collar that activates the door. The door locks when Kitty isn't nearby.

The cheap ones are under $100. The more sophisticated ones are $200 and up.

This google search yielded several vendors:

I would also check into the auto kitty door openers for their collar or perhaps put up a kitty run with a roof so nothing can get in or out. or train them to use a litter box so they dont have to go out.
