I was very suprised at the age of 37 to get chicken pox, it's the first time I have had it. I thought I was imunne as my little boy had it and never passed it to me.
So just wondering if anyone else has it, is there a chicken pox epedemic out there and how long am I going to feel so rough?

no chicken pox here. What part of the county you in, maybe want to check to se if there are more there.

Also they say when you get it at older age, it hits harder, but should be better in a week, dont itch or you will scar for life

use calomine soap stops the itching, put on thick, or use oatmeal, but does not work as well.

also not wearing clothes or very few is going to help your itching also and all cotton sheets,
Get better soon. stay out of public.

Had a look and I am pox free at the moment.
I had it when I was about 35 and was soooooooooooo ill I ended up taking Valium for the pain. My husband slept on the floor and the children fled to their Grannys. I looked like a toad.
Hope you are not as bad as that.
Get well soon.

Oh dear hope your feeling better soon, thankfully I had chicken pox as a child, guess chicken pox is something that will always be around and will get those poor unsuspecting kids and adults who haven't had it when they least expect it.

This is the time of year that chicken pox seems to go around. It is very easily spread by droplets from just speaking. Even children who have been immunized have been known of late to be getting them, just in milder cases. I hope you will be feeling better in3-5 days from onset. Good luck.

You can have recurrent chicken pox, it's known as shingles, although it is thought of as quite rare (but obviously not that rare on here). Chickenpox has a 10-14 day incubation period which makes them highly contagious.

well, i think that you don't know about chicken pox, it happens to each and everyone once in it's whole life time. and it does not matter that whether you have taken vaccination or not. it happened to me when i was very small to some it happens when they are above 30 or 40 or50 and so on. so i think there is no epidemic in the country.

I do not have it as I did have it as a child. There will always be an epedemic of it out there as kids get it all the time.

Did you have chicken pox when you where younger? if you didn't then you are having it now. If you have you have probably caught it of someone.

i had it twice as a child. my doctor was very surprised as your only supposed to get it once. have had shingles to. that was really painful. make sure you have plenty of calamine lotion in,and no matter how bad the itch is you must not scratch it. my daughter caught them and she has got some terrible scars. you should start to feel a bit better after 7-10 days. drink plenty of fluids and try and get as much rest as you can. i know its difficult with little ones about, but you must try. really hope you start to feel better really soon xx
