that believes in censorship? 90% may accept your question but you get deleted because of one disgruntled reader. Should Yahoo be ashamed of their censorship policy?

No Y/A should not delete any questions or answers. People should be grown up enough to not answer a question they don't like and not report answers they don't like. This site reminds me of being back at school at times.

Your question is rather invalid. Since this is a private website, there is no obligation on the part of yahoo to adhere to the federal statutes of discrimination, censorship or otherwise.

A private business has the right in this country, to conduct that business as it sees fit, including banning you for a policy it deems against their practice.

And yes, it it wished to do so, yahoo could also ban you for being white, black, green or a female, male, metrosexual or any other reason.

I don't think that's how it is at all. They don't automatically delete them, they review the question first. I have seen some very, very inappropriate questions with answers from like-minded individuals. DIdin't make the question anymore disgusting or wrong.

Furthermore the code of conduct is posted for all to read what is acceptable and what isn't. Perhaps more people shoud review those first before becomign upset they are being censored.

I have been "censored" as you call it, with a note from Yahoo that I did not follow the prescribed rules "of conduct." Yahoo offers this "service" free of charge and has the right to monitor and eliminate a problem question. Remember this is a family venue.

If you ask a question such as "how do you like my avatar?" you may get dozens of answers. The question is still against the rules and can be reported. The majority does not rule. Yahoo is not a democracy. It is a private company.

Private entities (i.e. Yahoo) can publish what and as much as they want. It isn't cool, but private entities don't censor, only governments censor. If you don't like it, start your own Answer service unaffiliated with Yahoo and have better terms.

I wouldn't call it censorship. I would call some cases immaturity.

If it is in violation of the TOS, then yes. Mob rule is not a reason to overturn established rules.
