Jeff Bagwell was a far superior First bagger than Grace. He was a tremendous offensive force and a gold glove first baseman with good range, a good arm, and an intelligent prescense. He was a cornerstone of a long running stretch of great teams. Grace was a good defensive first baseman maybe slightly better than Bagwell defensively but Bagwell was superior offensively. Bagwell's career numbers are at least as good as, and many times much better than Grace's numbers and he played fewer seasons and was severely limited in his last few due to injury. Grace may have a WS ring, but he's not going to the Hall of Fame. Bagwell will. On top of all of the physical aspects of the game, Bagwell was an impact leader for his team both on the field and in the clubhouse. Grace had great character but was not the leader that Bagwell was.
And for the guys who said that Bagwell was juicin' on 'roids... Shut up you idiots. Bagwell never once tested positive for steroids, has never been linked to any of these 'roid clinic or dealer scandals, and his hat size didn't double in two years! Morons! Bagwell was always chiseled and built. He didn't just all of the sudden balloon up like Bonds, McGwire, and Canseco did. And if you actually check the record - Bagwell has always been a big supporter of stricter drug testing and harsher penalties for substance abuse! How much sense would it make to shoot yourself in the foot by doping and then asking for a greater chance of getting caught and being punished more harshly for it? Dumbass!

Mark Grace. No quesion about it. played with crappy players and still manage to hit over .300 every year. better defensive player. has 1 more world series ring than Bagwell. Chances are Jeff Bagwell took steroids during the mid-late 90's. look at his body from the early 90s to late 90s.

Mark Grace. He didnt cheat ( i.e. take steriods ) like Bagwell. Better fielder, better pure hitter, better teammate, did more with less, this really isnt an argument...........but great question it is.

Well let's start with Grace will not be in the HOF while Bags will! All around Bags is better! More dingers more stolen bases better OBS...etc! Oh for the Cub fans then I guess we should take Ryne Sandberg and nail him for roids to!!! Did you see how his body changed over his career? I did!
