I am biased here because Bidge is my favorite player of all time, but I admire and respect Ryno at the same time.

In their primes: I would say that defensively that Biggio and Sandberg were neck and neck. Both of them excelled in the field. Both had great range, great speed (Bidge was probably faster), descent arms, and both could really flash the leather. Both men have the gold gloves to back this up.

Offensively, in their primes I would say the edge goes to Sandberg, but his prime was shorter. He did play for 15 seasons but his greatest impact was in a relatively short time frame. Bidge has been a constant for 20 years and in just the last two or three years has his age started to show at the plate and the field.

I think the two men are on a pretty even playing field. Bidge will end up with better offensive numbers because of the length of his career. Sandberg has more gold-gloves and All Star apperances but his career was much shorter and the last three or four seasons he was not near the impact player he had been early in his career. Bidge has the longevity on his side and that he played at a pretty constant level for so many years running. He has always been a key to his team. The thing that may give Bidge the edge is the impact he had on his team. Sandberg did have a significant impact on the Cubs but the Cubs were not a successful organization. When Biggio came to the Astros they were a mediocre team at best. Within four seasons, and with the addition of Bagwell the team transformed from a mediocre, ho-hum, also ran to prennial contenders and a feared force in the National League central. Sandberg, unfortunatley, outside of the '84 season did not have that impact on his team.

I'd say that on the field that Biggio and Sandberg even out only because of the longevity of Biggio. Sandberg by just pure stats and talent would edge Biggio but not by much and the length of careers is what evens it. But the intangibles that Biggio brings with him pushes him past Ryno. Biggio means more to the team, the fans, and the city. He has been a cornerstone for many, many years based upon his leadership and character. Ryno had great character and some good leadership skills but Bidge is untouchable in this respect.
My final decision is Craig Biggio by a nose.

there is not any doubt that Kent had extra capability than Biggio and Morgan. there is likewise little doubt that Morgan stole extra bases than the two Kent and Biggio. it is the difficulty, Morgan performed in a different time with a different place. Kent batted third, 4th or 5th for many of his profession at the same time as Morgan and Biggio batted 1st or 2nd. Kent shouldn't probable be in this communicate. That being stated, Morgan has gained 2 MVP awards and replaced into one among the main suitable gamers interior the sport for style of 10 years. i might decide for to declare that Biggio is the main suitable yet Morgan with the 683 steals and the MVP awards is extra appropriate.

Sandberg was a great second baseman. You reward a long career.

Sandberg changed the way second base was played. he added the power element to a seemingly powerless spot. He is way better the guy who is good at getting hit by pitches.

GO CUBS!!!!!

Both are great, but I would give the nod to Sandberg. You could hit him 3rd or 4th in a lineup and still do well.

Biggio, though it's pretty close.

Sandberg had a SLIGHTLY better peak season. Biggio's career peak lasted longer.
