Sloope formula

m = y₂- y₁/ x₂- x₁

Ordered Pair

(- 3, 0)(0, - 3)

m = - 3 - 0 / 0 - (- 3)

m = - 3 / 3

m = - 1

Perpendicular lines have slopes that are opposite inverses (for example, if one line has a slope of 1/2, then a line perpendicular to that will have a slope of -2)

So first find the slope of the line through (-3,0) and (0,-3)

Change in y = 0 - (-3) = 3

Change in x = -3 - 0 = -3

slope is Change in y over Change in x, so 3/(-3) = -1

The line you're looking for is perpendicular to that one, so its slope is 1.

In y = mx + b, the m is the slope, so that will be 1.

In y = mx + b, b is the y intercept, or, in other words, the place where that line passes through the y-axis. Since this line goes through the origin, that's where it passes through the y- axis, at (0,0).

So with m = 1 and b = 0, your equation is y = 1x + 0, or y = x.

Okay first you find m or slope. You do -3-0 and get -3. Then you do -3-0 again and get -3. You do -3/-3=1. Now you need to find b, you locate the y intercept which is the coordinate with y=0. Which is the (-3,0) because y=0. Then, you use -3 for b and your equation is : y=1x-3 and there it is.

to start off with, because it passes through the origin, b=0 (b is the y-intercept).
To find m, you need the negative of the slope of the line between (-3,0) and (0,-3) (this gives you the perpendicular slope). Rise over Run to get the slope as -1, so the desired m=1.
Therefore the answer would be y = x

OK
y=mx+b is teh equation of a line.

b is where the line intersects the y axis
m is the slope

since the problem tells you that the line is through the origin then b = 0

next the slople
slope = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) plug in the numbers from the points you where given
you get (-3-0)/ (0-(-3)) = -3/3 = -1
so the slpoe is -1
but you want the perpendicular so you need the negative of the slope you found i.e. -slope = -(-1) = 1

so b =0 and m = 1

y=x or y = 1x+0

Find your slope:

-3-0/0-(-3)=-3/3=-1

-1 is your slope.

y-(-3)=-1(x-0)
y+3=-1x

y=-1x-3 is your slope.

m=-1
b=-3
