When I open the program, the normal window for the program pops up, but only about half of the window loads and then the program locks up. I am running it on Windows XP. Also, the auto scan that I set up before I had this issue still works every night. My biggest problem is that the Norton Firewall is blocking most of my programs. Please help me out with a solution.

When a major security package doesn't work, I start thinking some maleware has subverted it. I suggest you download, install and run Stinger. Stinger is an anti-virus's anti-virus. Its sole purpose in life is to check for things that attack the major anti-virus packages, Norton/Symantec and McAfee (its provider, by the way) in particular.

If it finds something (its scan takes a considerable time) but doesn't seem to be able to fix it, try running it in Safe Mode:

To get into Safe Mode:

1. Log out and reboot your machine.
2. When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key
3. Select Safe Mode from the resulting menu.
4. The machine will continue booting, but the Windows desktop will look different. You won't be able to see the Internet, for instance. You may have to log in as Administrator to delete the bad files.
5. When you're finished, log out and reboot back into normal mode.

I tell all of us i understand to get McAfee ( in no way EVER NORTON) AVG Grisoft is particularly good and unfastened. no longer as good for people who surf alot, as McAfee. Pencillin via trendmicro is particularly good additionally. in case you had Comcast Broadband, they provide you McAfee for unfastened.
