I have a small gold key necklace by Jessica Elliot that I wear practically every day. I keep getting asked, "What is the key to? What does it open?" Hmm! Well, what should my story be? Every key needs a story! =)

P.S. - This is just for fun. My co-worker inspired me to ask this on Yahoo to see what kind of things people can come up with. =) Hehe.

"When I was really little, my aunt gave me a jewelry box. I didn't really have a lot of jewelry, so I just put all my most treasured memories inside of it. Photos. Movie tickets. Keepsakes. Things I wanted to keep forever.
I kept the key in the pocket of an oversized poncho that I had. It was way too big for me. when I put it on, it was like a dress. But I loved it. And I knew it was the perfect place for the key. I knew no one would get it there. If I wanted to find the key, I'd go in my closet and reach into the poncho. I put it back when I was done. And the poncho, being made of wool, was never put in the washing machine. So it wans't a problem.
Then when I was eighteen and working as a waitress at a restaurant on the shore, I got a call from my aunt saying there was a fire at my house and it had burned down.
Everyone was out of the house and safe. But all my posessions were gone.
After that phone call, I wasn't crying.
It hadn't really hit me yet.
I couldn't believe all my posessions were gone.
And all the clothes I were left with were jeans and my restaurant's uniform apron..
Which is when I realized what I was wearing underneath the restaurant apron. My poncho. How old the poncho was! But it was sooo big when I was a kid. And it had just started to fit me the right way! I reached into the pocket of the poncho and found the gold key to my jewelery box.
The one that held all my keepsakes. That played ballet songs I'd listen to all day long. That was gone- forever, with the rest of my house.
I've always kept the key ever since.
I know how it is to lose things. I lost my most precious memories.
So I make sure I never lose the key.
Because it's the key to all my posessions. But those posessions and memories aren't just anywhere- they're inside of me!
The key is a key to my soul.
It's a key to my heart.
When I wear it, I know I can always use it. I can always search inside my heart to find those memories again. "

you could say the key opens your house or a door, but that would give someone a reason to steal it to get into your house. i have a key necklace as well with a lock in the shape of a heart attached and people ask me if the key opens the heart- it doesnt. basically what i would say is that it opens nothing. if thats too boring then i can't help you because there's really no reason to wear a key that goes to something around your neck. hope this helps, sorta.

The method I arise with recommendations that ultimately grow to be plots is daydream plenty. It does not topic wherein I am bodily, in view that mentally I'm consistently someplace else. Haven't you ever checked out anything or checked out a quandary and simply idea, What if this occurred? or What if that occurred? That's what I do for my characters and my storyline. What if this person did that? What if that person did this? What if this person mentioned this to that person? What if, what if, what if. It's undoubtedly never-ending. That is how I create a plot. I rather wouldn't have steps. Everything else turns out to fall into location for me. But I consider of my recommendations for months, typically years, earlier than I even start writing. I do plenty of pre-writing and tale growth in my head. =)

Tell them it's actually a key to a secret box you've hidden deep under your house which unlocks many of your family secrets and also has your bank account number in there......
Okay maybe that was too imaginative...... the key to the heart of your better half sounds fine!
