Unless someone attacks them first of course. You have the right to defend yourself. But most of the time, both people are to blame.

You're absolutely right. We've evolved way past the need for physical violence. Nonetheless, people often act irrationally and immaturely.

On a state level, there also continue to be wars and other such violence. Unfortunately, this will probably only increase as climate change makes resources even scarcer and adds yet another impetus for armed disputes.

I believe that adults should be in control of their feelings and emotions so they should not fight. If someone can control you by words that are coming from their mouth and make u react physically then you \have already lost and are the weaker oppponent. Walk away walkaway diplomacy is your best bet. I believe that louder dont make you right as well as the library voice will be your best bet

Getting physical during arguments is in no way right but often happens because people in general feel the need to hurt others to get that other person to feel the hurt that they themselves are feeling.
Being smart about it will never happen I am afraid. Tempers flair, people lash out.

I think it's more a question of maturity rather than 'smarts'. Most adults know that they shouldn't be fighting, but some just aren't mature enough to care.

Hope not. If everyone suddenly has an aversion to violence (not only would the world be boring as ***) there would be no one to balance out all the left wing conservitives and hippies. Besides, the kind of ppl I hang out with get a rush from violence, as do I.

Where do you get your dictum that "you have the right to defend yourself", and "both people are to blame". This sounds like nonsense that you must have read somewhere even if you don't remember reading it. Think about it before you just repeat what you heard somewhere.

Most of the time, the fights are between two neanderthal type men who have very fragile egos.

Sure we are all smarter than that but pride and emotions take over, and that's what happens sometimes.

It's not a thing of being smart, it's a thing of being able to control emotions

YES. i hate physical violence of any kind. especially when older men get drunk and feel the need to fight for no reason? so immature. i agree with you that the only necessary form of violence is in self defense. why can't people just solve their problems with words?
