I have a ton of books and i cannot take them all with me. I dont want to take them to goodwill i only have a car and it would cost me money to get rid of them taking them there it would take about 3 or 4 trips. I was thinking about putting a free books sign out by the highway but i don't know if anyone would take them.

Any ideas on how to get rid of alot of books fast?

Do the "free sign" and see how it goes. What doesn't disappear can go to the trash.

Trash, if you dont want to take the time to donate them. You could leave them out for the taking, but what if no one takes them? Will you leave them there?

maybe amvets or good will or salvation army will send a truck out to pick them up. or you could drop off to them. you could also call nursing homes / library and ask if they accept donations. they may even give you a tax receipt so you can deduct / save a little money on your state / fed returns.
