I idled out at a red light. Had a hell of a time restarting it. I had to keep it high idle all the way home. It will idle out if I dont keep my foot on the pedal. Not sure what kind of Carb is on it but I have had problems with the first start of the day. I use starter fluid for the first start and it does alright. When I was restarting it at the light I noticed the fan had chewed at spark wire and it was bouncing off the alternator. Anyone got any tips?

I just noticed when it idles out I'm getting fuel seapage running of the bracket the pedal cable connects to? Think this is just a seal I can replace? Maybe the seal between the carb and the engine?

The engine is most likely equipped with a Ford 2V carb. Sounds like the accelerator pump has failed. Rebuild the carb & replace the damaged wire.

replace the fan, check the fan pulley, replace the belt, replace the spark plug wire and restart and check if it will idle. If it still has trouble, replace the spark plugs, the rest of the wires and the cap and rotor.
