I want to drop the titles of whatever religion you are in and list three things that you feel are important to be in a religion or faith. Then list three things you think should not be in a religion. I want your views!!! I am very curious and interested in what the differences are in the views, if any.

I don't mean to offend anyone.

The Church of the Subgenius.
Three important things in a faith:
1. "Bob".
2. Giving "Bob" $30.00.
3. Not being like anyone else.
Three things that should not be in a religion:
1. Conformity to a dogmatic doctrine that excludes actual experiences with real spiritual events, beings, and situations.
2. A celibate priest-hood.
3. The idea of Absolute Truth.

Should Be:
1) Faith
2) Compassion for all living beings
3) Open mindedness
Should Not Be:
1) Judgmental attitude toward others
2) Elitism
3) Ignorance

2. Faith

3. Living your life by your own code of values and generally being the best human being you can.




Not needed:


1. Missionary work (who are we to say other religions are wrong?)

2. Judging others based on their religious beliefs (I hold the ancient crusaders in other contempt).

3. Teaching blind conformity.

dont need:
i dont feel religion needs to tell priests not to marry
mind control
churches that skip main holidays

Spiritual connection with nature
Compassion and Morals
Warrior against evil (I know..it's relative.)

Not needed:

Going to church
Reading the Bible
Tithing

love of God

hellfire and damnation
rules from ancient times
promises of hell for those who did not know Jesus (how many millions were before, during and after His time?)
