I have some summer reading for school but I also want to read some books for pleasure. Does anyone know any good books for a fifteen year old girl? I want a book that keeps the reader going until they have finished the book because I do get sidetracked a lot. I really liked the catcher in the rye because it was an easy read and it also made you think a lot. Does anyone know any books like that?

One absolutely superb book by a new author is Where Did This Come From? by Larry Nocella. It's exactly what you describe: very fast-paced, short, and an easy read. Makes you think a lot. Buy it on Amazon.

Sonya Hartnett has written some good YA books. I like her work because she doesn't give the reader the usual "happy ever after" ending that a lot of YA authors do. Her books are very real and the characters stay with you a long time. Some of her books are:
Sleeping Dogs
Wilful Blue
What the Birds See
Surrender
Thursday's Child
The above are all good but my fave is Sleeping Dogs. It's about a family (mother, father, five children) who run a caravan park. An artist comes to stay at their park and finds the family interesting and mysterious. He sets out to discover their secret and does so, to a devastating conclusion. I highly highly recommend it.

When I was your age (well, probably younger actually) I loved the Little House books, the Nancy Drew books, and the Sweet Valley High books. Those make for fun, light reading. If you'd like something just as engrossing, but that will make your mind work a bit harder, try any of Jane Austen's books. I absolutely love reading her works.

You may want to try Animal Farm by George Orwell. Its about a group of farm animals that take over running a farm. I read it when I was in high school over one weekend. Its a very short book and easy to read.

I know when you think of beverly cleary you think Ramona, and Ellen Tebbits. but she has also written some romance books. Fifteen being one of them.
