I noticed it last year and again last week. He plays for the Phila Phillies and is Hawaiian, not a buffalo soldier. Can anyone shed light on this?

Well, he's a huge reggae fan who apparently relates to the “fighting on arrival, fighting for survival” part of the song because of his experience in fighting to stay in the major leagues.

Its just a song that he picked when he comes up to bat. Mostly every player in the MLB does this. He probably likes Bob Marley or something.

Players get to chose songs when they come up to bat or come in to pitch so i guess he chose that song. Thats the simplist answer i can give you.
