The film is very well done. Moore comments that while most Americans have health insurance, there are still almost 50 million who do not, and even those who do have it are not assured their medical care will be paid for, since the HMO industry is set up to make money, there are literally thousands of cases in which people are denied payment on their medical claims for trivial, often rediculous reasons.

The best part of the film is when Moore goes to three different western nations, Canada, England, and France, and basically shows that not only do the citizens of these nations pay NOTHING for health services, but they also enjoy lower infant mortality rates and longer lifespans than Americans. Also, he comments how the great nation of Britan hasn't slipped into a "socialist dictatorship" even though they have had socialized medicine since the end of WW2.

Unfortunately that we live in a political landscape which dismisses Moore's films as "propaganda" without giving them a chance

One of the best scenes in the film is when Moore walks through an english hospital asking the patients how much they have "paid" for their health care. Nearly every person interviewed laughed. LAUGHED at the question. Many said that while they like America and Americans, they think the health care system here is a joke.

To those who think Moore is just a mouthpiece for the left, he spends about 10 minutes pointing a finger at Hillary Clinton for all the money she has taken from HMO's. In his opinion, she is a part of the problem too.

Another great scene in the movie involves dispelling many of the myths attributed to a national health care system, specifically the lie that you wouldn't be able to choose your doctor under a single-payer system, or that it would lead to waiting lists and a reduction in the quality of care.

I would recommend this film to anyone who wants a "ground up" perspective on the health care industry, as well as a acurate representation of what socialized medicine is.

I haven't seen it, but I have heard some reviews. Most like it but some pointed out that as usual, Moore leaves out a lot of pertainent info that doesn't fit with his agenda.

well it's obvious you know nothing...first of all, did fatboy mention that included in that 50 million americans without health insurance number is the entire group known as 'illegal aliens'...i didn't thinks so...secondly, yes the hmo's, ppo's, and insurance companies do get a bit ridiculous at times in trying to keep their costs down and their profits up but that is after all, the aim of ANY business...thirdly, you mention that the lucky citizens of canada, england, and france pay nothing for their health services, infant mortality is better than ours, and that england has not slipped into a socialist dictatorship...i'm having some trouble not puking my lunch onto my computer screen because tax rates in the 'e.u.' are astronomical in order to give out that 'free' care you mentioned, they don't have as many babies as we do so consequently not as many are counted among the dead, and because europe has not been taken over by one controlling party, yet, does not mean it has not become a socialists wet dream. it has!

i am afraid fatboys films are indeed propaganda as any fair minded person can see and even if you can't or won't see this, there is ample proof that he 'cook's his information to satisfy a certain political bent. roger and me, bowling for columbine, and, most notoriously, Fahrenheit 9/11, have ALL been exposed as fraudulent propaganda and this piece of crap will be too in pretty short order....
btw, why doesn't mr. moore go traipsing off to these other countries when he requires care?...hmmm?...

don't be a sucker...it's really not becoming...

I never fell for the lies that have been intentionally spread by the media through gross exaggeration and false reporting . Pit bulls around the world, and especially in Britain, have long and excellent records for themselves.....for being GREAT pets, and NOT biting anyone. Sadly, in a world where the common media and governmental trend is to do almost anything to keep fear alive in the populace, these dogs are the latest victims of that quest. Anyone who actually knows dogs well and anyone who has had a long experience with pit bulls, will contradict the media hyperbole every time. Just as humans have a physical response to some circumstances, perhaps soft, perhaps using extreme force that damages or kills, dogs of every breed and size will bite under some circumstances. History has shown they are far less dangerous to humans than are other humans. Unlike most humans, pit bulls and other dogs can be trained to show great patience, even though their personal circumstances are much more restricted. Throughout history humans have demonstrated a strong tendency to respond with violence to vocal provocation, whereas this is virtually unknown with a dog. Humans have more than amply demonstrated that when a clear option of walking away from any confrontation exists, they will very often exercise their freedom of choice to engage in violence. Humans make this deliberate decision and CHOOSE to fight and hurt others, instead of walking away. By comparison, it is normal for a dog, including a pit bull, to turn away from aggression, or try its best to do so. A curious thing is that pit bulls, to a vast number of those who people who insist on their being dangerous, cannot even be accurately identified by those same people. Whether they be people who never leave their dwellings, joggers, police, or the very news media reporters who explode reality to suit their own purposes, it is very, very, common to see that when presented with the chance of picking a pit bull from among others, they literally cannot tell which dog is a pit bull and which one is not. When the same people are placed in the presence of a group of dogs that they are told are all gentle and to look at their behaviour before choosing one to pet, it is also common for them to choose an actual pit bull, and then find their choice is well-rewarded. Truth and the news media have lost their connection. .

Moore went to countries where there is not a huge amount of money spent on welfare, drug rehab, public housing, food stamps. How can he compare our country to those countries???? The citizens DO pay for health care - thru taxes...helloooooo.

I have to say I won't watch anything ever again made by Michael Moore. He is totally biased but still tries to pass off his films as "documentaries."
Most of us with full-time jobs have health insurance. You should see how many people don't have health insurance that have big screen tvs, $6-a-day cigarette addictions, cable television, etc. I think it is available and affordable to most people and does not need to be provided 100% by the government.

It won't change any of those minds that are made up without even seeing or considering the film.

Michael Moore does good work. Sometimes he uses a bit of literary licence to get his point across but basically it is true.
Too many put it down because it shows the dirty little secrets of our government.

I think we should all pay attention including some of those politicians with bags over their heads.

Michael Moore has no credibility, did he actually interview people in those countries with Universal Health Care? I'd like to know how those people were chosen, those I know hate it! Glad you enjoyed his movie, I would consider it fiction, thanks but no thanks.
