You MAY need an adult. You should check with the hotel management to explain your situation. They may OK it for the purpose you have in mind. However, you could also drive an hour and discover that you can't check in.

Make the phone call.

Some places won't allow you to stay by yourself if your not 21. Some places may allow you to stay if you're 18, but I have called and inquired about this and places frown upon two people under 18 staying at a hotel who don't have an adult accompanying them. If your friend's mom put the room in her name and said she'd be the one staying and the ask for a photo id, which many places do, and the name is wrong on the id, they will either ask you to leave or call the police.

They'll need an adult to reserve the room and to take responsibility for anything that may happen in the room... but that doesn't necessarily mean the adult has to spend the entire time in the room. If you're both girls I doubt anyone will mind - the hotel might be reluctant if it were a guy and a girl, or even a group of rowdy guys, but just the two of you should be fine.

i doubt it would be a big deal, they want the business. ive stayed in many hotels, before i was 18, before i was 21, everyone said it would be a big deal but i never had a problem. although i guess a beard helps...

It depends on the hotel. Usually, they will as long as their mom is there for check in and then she can leave...I don't see why not.

JUST TO BE SAFE, I WOULD CALL TE MOTEL AND ASK THEM. THEY WILL ASK FOR AN ID. YOU COULD ALSO LET THEM SPEAK TO HER MOM. I WOULDN'T CHANCE IT. GOOD LUCK .
