There are the Scorpions, a pop rock band that I think is still around. The band Nena that had a hit with 99 Luftballons did therir best work in Gernman, and their lead singer Gabriella Kerner in recording again. Others I can think of are Soft Machine and Rammstein, and Falco.

Try this website. It's the German version of American Idol. There are several American songs, but also a couple of German ones. The Superstar version is a lot more interesting to watch than the American version.

These bands are dated but I can't think of any
new German bands...
Check out the Scorpions - Rock
Rammstein ... Kinda of hard to describe, but
I guess Disco-Metal fits !
My original favorite band from Germany was
Kraftwerk but they're more of an electronics/synth band.

There's a song we used to listen to in my German class called Kussen Verboten. it's very catchy and its by Die Prinzen.
