Art is very hard work, you'll find it takes up alot of your time. But if you enjoy it and want to use it in the future, then take it.

You absolutely MUST take Maths and English, even if they bore you - every job you go for in the future will want you to have maths and english GCSE

I'm assuming that these are all your non-compulsary stuff.
Yeah, art IS hard work, but if you like it, then you must do it. After all the compulsary subjects, you should choose the subjects that you like; from your choices, it seems like you want to do something along the lines of social education - whether it may be social sciences or anything else. Obviously, no one can truly decide except you, but I think that History, Health&Social, Art and Double Science are the best choice because those subjects alone give you a wide range of career gates - at GCSE you shouldn't be thinking about specific jobs yet as you may change your mind. GCSE is for opening your career doors.

Anyone who said that art isn't hard work is talking rubbish, either that or they must have got really low grades. To do well it does take up a lot of time, but as others have said, if you enjoy it, then it'll be worth it, especially if you can do well and get a good grade.
I'd say science is always a good one to take, in my opinion, almost as important as maths and english.
The others depend on what you plan to do in the future, child development and health and social will only be useful if that is the sort of job you want to go into, as they are vocational.
History is good for anything, so like someone else said, whatever you want to do it's a good one to have.
Ultimately it's up to you, but don't worry about it too much :)

I can't tell you what to take, that's a decision you should make by yourself.
However, I can tell you art is not hard work. You do a year and a half of coursework, which involves picking your topics, studying artists work that follows your topic, then inventing your own design for a final piece. You then do exactly the same for the exam.
Art GCSE is good for those with talent. It is also good if you are not so good at exams, as there is no written exam in Art, only four weeks of concentrated sketching.

Hope this helped. xx

It depends on your career.... I'm doing my GCSEs right now, only two more exams to go: Sociology and Economics. I chose sociology, economics and art. I do not recommend doing art, because you have to do a lot of work and believe me it takes a lot of time. I mean one observational drawing is like 6 hours, if done on an A1 piece of paper.... In the end Art just took over all my subjects and it was hard to get all the work done, because it took away a lot of time from my revision. If you're prepared for a lot of hard work, you could do sociology, economics and history. I know it sound like hell, but believe me with those subjects, and good grades in all of them, you're gonna have a chance of getting into a really good college.

Ignore what people say about Art, it involves a lot of hard work. I used to like it. But when I chose it at GCSE I hated it. I had no real choice in doing what i wanted to do. I had to follow a plan on what they wanted, there we a lot of restrictions, so i hated it. Thats my experience.

I done history at GCSE, i quite liked it. But i can't tell you much as it depends on what topics you study.

I have never done or knew anybody who done child development, sorry.

I'm sure double science is compulsory, as i had to do it.

Not sure about health and social. Although i am studying Sociology at A level.

I would pick the 2nd option.

Good Luck!

Depends what career you are going for. Science based subjects are the best to get and health & social is a good one to have for jobs in the future because you would know all about descrimination etc. You might want to take IT as a GCSE if your not already.
Art is hard work but its quite enjoyable in my opinion.

Art is the EASIEST subject you have listed. The pupils at my school just messed around in the lessons.

All I can tell you is that you have NO choice about the Double Science option.

Science, English, Maths and a Language are ESSENTIAL subjects. If your school does NOT enter you for these they are breaking the law.

for gcse? surely science is compulsary?

art is hard work, but worth it if it's something you enjoy or want to do.

Where are you going in your life? If you want to go to university i would steer away from child development or health and social education. History is a good choice, as it shows a range of skills, and complements the science and art well.

Hi is difficult to answer without knowing what you would like to do when you leave school/ college?

Obviously make sure English Lang and Maths is concentrated on. Apart from that yeah they sound ok... main thing is that you are interested in the subjects you take!

Has your school careers advice not been of help?

Goodluck regardless
