A question was ask about foreigners and how they thought we as Americans felt about them. And the below was my answer:

I have to give you my honest opinion on this and this comment is only coming from one Black American Female. I don't know if other American feels the way that I do. But I really don't care what foreigners think about America. Only because I feel that I'm not real glad about foreigners being in America all that much. I feel if you weren't born here, you shouldn't be here. There are a lot of foreign countries that don't want Americans on there soil. And I just feel the same about foreigners being on American soil. Now don't get me wrong. I don't have a problem with you all visiting. But once you've done the tour, I would just like it if you would just get back on the plane and go home.

I'm not trying to start another war on foreigners or anything. But I'm just upset that they're all over the place. And they get better treatment then real Americans. Comments?

Afrowoman...I think a real American is anyone that was born on American soil. OK? I'm not talking about tracing ancestors. I know about my ancestors! I'm talking about how crowded these cities have become since people who weren't born here and came here illegally and they just stay and populate. Don't get it twisted Miss Thing! I know that we all come from some place else if you want to trace the bloodline. You people who are loving these foreigners being here are the one who just don't care.

As for you Bernie Goetz, I'm not on Welfare sweetie! As a matter of fact I most likely make way more money then you. Because I work with Stock Brokers and Traders on Wall Street in New York! So you need to stop tripping as well!

Miss Des Ta....Just because I have to look at them all day long doesn't mean I have to like it! They might not like looking at me as well. Back in the day, White people couldn't stand looking at Blacks! You white people had a problem with Blacks! So why can't I not like having all these other mixed up flavors surrounding me? Am I not entitled to express my opinion? After all, this is my question! HELLO!

the foreigners aren't the problem our federal government is the problem. i have no problem with anyone that is from another country coming here to make a better life. my only problem is when they come over illegally and committ crimes only to be deported 5 or 6 times just so they can come back and do it again. supposedly we have over 2 million undocumented citzens. how did we even get that number if the government wasn't in on it. shoot border cops (that were doing their job and accidently shot a woman because the bullet bounced off of smething )are in jail now. how to we keep the bad guys out so that the good people can come in. right now it's seems to be all or nothing with most people.

"I feel if you weren't born here, you shouldn't be here."
Then who does belong here? Everyone either shouldn't be here or is descended from someone who, according to you, shouldn't have been here.

"There are a lot of foreign countries that don't want Americans on there soil."
1) Then why exclude people who aren't from foreign countries that don't want Americans on THEIR soil?
2) ...or people who don't mind Americans on their soil who happen to come from foreign countries that don't want Americans on their soil? How is this not prejudice, since it considers people based on their nationality rather than on an individual basis?

"I don't have a problem with you all visiting. But once you've done the tour, I would just like it if you would just get back on the plane and go home."
Do you even realize how dependent on foreign labor some industries (such as agriculture) are?

"And they get better treatment then real Americans."
Broad generalization. Undoubtedly, this may be true in some cases, but it certainly is not in most.

My own view is that I really don't care if someone is here legally or not, as long as they're contributing (or trying to contribute) to society, trying to do what's right and fair, trying to work hard and not leach off the system, they're ok in my opinion.

Why are you upset? You work in the financial world and do not understand how much foreigners contribute? Are you the receptionist at the brokerage? Sounds like it.

You need to understand the way government makes policies and on what basis legal immigration takes place. You may be mad at illegal immigrants but just being mad that foreign people come here is a waste. I find it hilarious when Black people develop these feelings - the feelings that the establishment will always have about you. Take a trip to silicon valley one day and try to find a non immigrant. And you can thank them for contributions in making your life easier by improving tech advances.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY ENTITLED TO ignorance darling. I am not white by the way. I won't even argue with you - you sound pretty dense.

I think the fact that you said "I really don't care what foreigners think about America" pretty much sums it up. You know, theres a whole word out there where people DO care, and treat others as such. This is a singly American attitude, and frankly, it sucks. Its no wonder America is hardly respected (outside the US, that is).

Now if you are commenting on illegals coming from south of the border, that is a completely different issue from the original question which you answered.

sorry to break it to ya sweetie but if you don't have Native American blood in you I really don't think you have any right to feel that way. Everyone in America is a descendant of someone who at one time or another was an immigrant. So if you're going to feel that way about new immigrants, then I suggest you trace your family history back to wherever and move to that place.

America is a melting pot of different cultures. If you don't like it, leave.

You may want to reconsider when it comes time for you to retire. Currently about 2 million Americans have retired to Mexico alone, most of them because they cannot afford to live in any degree of comfort back home. There are millions more overseas, if you count Costa Rica, Belize, Panama and the rest of Latin America, South America, the Philippines, Thailand, on and on.

Your attitude is shortsighted, at the very least.

BTW, many of these Americans abroad are undocumented in those countries. How do I know that? I lived in Mexico for 10 years and was one of many, many undocumented residents that I knew there.

Just you. And, for the record, Everyone in America can trace their ancestry to a foreign country. And we need to care what foreign countries think of us b/c our survival depends in part on our relationships with them.

Sorry honey, can't agree with you. I would be wishing my self out of existence, both my grandparents on my Mom's side were born in Italy. If they weren't allowed in this country, I wouldn't be here. As another poster said, unless you are 100% of native American ancestry, than you are descendent of "immigrants" or slaves.

I don't mind welcoming immigrants to our land if they are law-abiding, skilled and learn to speak our language. Yes, there are lots bad apples in every bunch, just as there are some bad "home grown" apples. But let's not throw out the baby with bath water.
