Rob Zombie is my favorite as well (even in the white zombie days) but tied with Gwar..If you like Zombie I would recommend and would think you would also like Viloence Has Arrived, Beyond Hell & Scumdogs of the Universe by Gwar. Zombie/ Gwar are about the only 2 bands I pretty much like every song they put out. Heck even my 3yr olds favorite music is from Zombie & Gwar . Always puts a smile on his face and makes him happy.. dances around to the music...he can't understand the lyrics yet ;)

Rob Zombie has said that rock legend Alice Cooper was his biggest influence. I would check out Alice's Brutal Planet, The Last Temptation and Dragontown albums.

I would check out Faith No More or Mr. Bungle. They both (Mike Patton vehicles) work well with that off kilter hard rock thing. Faith No More's record Angel Dust is really great.
You also may want to have a look at Ministry, or Korn.

Anything from before the "metal" phrase, like the late 60s/early 70's of Led Zeppelin, Foghat, Steppenwolf, Deep Purple, Grand Funk Railroad, Alice Cooper, and that stuff that ALL came out of what Jimi Hendrix was going (live, in concert) -- and that just wasn't played on the radio. You know, a band like KISS was basically a pop-version of these bands.. creating music to sell to teenagers, and in fact, they became their own branch (of which Rob Zombie is a leaf).

Out of LA, came the early stuff from "red hot chili peppers" around 1984-ish -- before someone got a hold of them, and realized if they produced their music, and let people hear the words that they could be a commercial success. (in fact, I'd bet that your music-hero listened to this stuff, early on).. and what he did was emulate the early Peppers, it as if the band never moved on from that sound -- and then, simply added his scary/dopey, persona to what the music sounded like) sorry if that sounds like I insulted you Evil Prince, but it's just smoke & mirrors and selling records (don't get consumed by the hype).

"Metal" as a genre was actually just "hard-rock pop" and coined from the guitar-based hair-bands (that were mostly from LA) -- from Van Halen to Def Leppard (who you might like, too). In fact, all Rob Zombie was in the 90's -- was a anti-hair band image. Instead of the happy-song, boy wants girl (although boy was prettier than girl, and had hairspray, eye-liner and lip-gloss..). He was the otherside of the same thing -- with a darker image (like Marilyn Manson, most famously) to the Guns & Roses, and then Ratt and all that nonsense... because, if you PAYING ATTENTION.. you see that Zombie etc. actually has makeup, and did-up their hair, too (except that it was black & red, and mostly Halloween/goth & horror).
