I have been told, in the state of NJ, if a person is renting an apartment, they can stop paying rent, and if a child is living there, cannot be evicted. I find this hard to believe.

This is a hypothetical argument, not a real life situation.

sorry but there is no truth behind that matter. regardless of a child you can be evicted for non payment. it would reflect poorly on your household and social services if u were being evicted. people might question your parenting skills and get the state involved. some people think they are above the law, take my old apt neighbor they had 2 kids and used them as an excuse all the time for their reasoning as non payment yet their kids had brand new bikes, etc. they were eventually evicted, the sheriff came, let them round up their possessions and booted them out after 8 months of non payment.

There is a reason you find it hard to believe. And that is reason is that it is totally false. Landlords always have the right of eviction if a tenant does not pay the rent.

Almost everyone has a child. This would not be correct. Landlords would all be bankrupt if they had to pay the mortgage on homes w/o rent to help to anyone having a child.
