I just bought a 2003 Venture 3.4liter. After the purchase was complete 2 days later I noticed that on top of the engine there was a "5.0" hand written in green and a few markings on the engine in yellow. I tried to locate the VIN # on the engine to see if matches the VIN# on the car but I can not locate it. And the dealership sold it to me obligated to tell me if this was a junk yard engine and what my rights are? I bought it on June 11 and today is June 18th. They might not have known if this was a Junkyard engine also but they have mechanics look over them before they put it in the lot. I need all the help I can get.
thanks
Oz

Go to carfax.com enter the vin of the car and it will tell you if there has been anything done to the car, i.e. accident, stolen, flood, fire ect. It will cost you 25 dollars, buts its well worth it.

Colored grease pens markings on an engine or trans. mean nothing as lots of times the guys in the factory are marking things for no reason except their own. Dealerships do have to provide information on cars that have been in crashes, but I do not think they have to tell if they installed a used motor in a car. In Canada, all dealerships have to provide a warranty to protect a custoomer somewhat from buying a car that is not a good one. It is still the same issues though, Buyer Beware!! Good luck.

i own a repair shop ,and i have run across this problem before ,you either have a bad thermostat in it or it has a pressure leak some where in it, that will cause this to happen also,my truck was like that and i changed the thermostat in it,and it didn't change it none,i ran a pressure check on it,and come find out it had a leak right at the top of the radiator, and i didn't never have to add coolant to it either, after replacing the radiator i have real good heat now and i don't have to wait on it,good luck this might help you also with yours.
