Stephen King
Redrum is the word murder spelled backwards. It was used in The Shining by Stephen King and in both the film The Shining and the miniseries The Shining based on the book.
Stephen King also uses redrum in other books and movies such as in Desperation where on the wall REDRUM DOG (God Murder) appears.
The scene from The Shining where Wendy looks at Danny's writing of "REDRUM" in the mirror as "MURDER" can be briefly seen in the drive-in scene in Twister (1996).

It is probably a corruption of a Saxon word, like "murthur," or the like. "Rum," and maybe "red" were from different languages. English is such a mishmash of words from other languages that they probably had no connection at all.
