You hit the nail on the head, finally a question where the asker, actually gets it. I will be interested in these answers, we voters have a lot of explaining to do. We are hypocrites and that crosses both party lines.

Our founding fathers meant for our reps to be ordinary folk doing 1 term in Washington then going back home to the farm or factory.
I quess cash filled envelopes changed that quick enough.
