For those like Clinton and Obama? Both of which I do not believe are qualified for the job.

Yes, unless we all decide to not vote for the media proclaimed "top-tier" people. We should all be doin our research, picking the candidate we feel is the best choice, and given 'em all weve got, no matter what the media talking heads say about them.

I'm supporting Mike Gravel, and I will continue to do so until he loses or drops out. I dont care what CNN's polls say, in my mind hes really the only one worth voting for.

Youre a Biden supporter right? If you think hes the best candidate, give him all youve got. Ignore Clinton and Obama, and concentrate on helping out Biden's campaign.

The media has much more of an effect in the Democratic Party than in the Republican Party. For the Democrats, yes I think the media hype will have alot to do with the nominee.

Republicans more often than not mistrust the mainstream media, so that has little effect on our nominees. "Right wing" media such as Limbaugh, Hannity, and the like does have a effect on the Republican nominees however, but that is really the party deciding itself, and (although not always) is a tendency for reflecting the top candidates rather than picking them outright.

It has and it will, but it doesn't have to be the case. Not today. With computers in most homes and public libraries, the public has, perhaps for the first time, the tools to investigate candidates and make a better informed decision based on truth as best we can find it.

Probably, more's the pity.

It's already pretty-much been decided by the media, in fact.

I DO wish most voters weren't such brain-dead sheep and would think for themselves now and then.

The media, at the very least, pre-select for us who we are told to consider, a sub-set of all who are running.

None of the rest have a prayer, usually.

It absolutely enrages me.

It's why I'm stuck with a Governator -- he was "elected" by the media, even before it was certain there'd be a recall election.

grrr. argh.

probably... too many aspects of our lives our influenced by media, unjustly. there are waaaay too many people that vote or have opinions on politics that do not do the appropriate research... and watching CNN is not a sure-fire way to be thoroughly educated for an upcoming election.
