My daughter has red hair, and my husband and I both have dark hair. You can not believe how many people ask us "Where did she get her red hair from?"
I can not imagine ever saying that to someone.
I am sure somewhere down the blood line someone had red hair, although my mom did not know her family, she does know she is Irish. Should I have to explain that to everyone?
And what if my daughter was adopted? Should I have to tell them that?
I really do take it lightly and have even jokingly whispered, 'she's the mailman's' but my hubby and I were talking about how we are asked this every time we go somewhere and I was wondering just how many people have the same type of stupid questions asked of them?

You know, I'm sorry that is a stupid question, but I've been guilty of asking it myself. I assure you that I'm not making any kind of implication, I'm only curious to find out what side of the family it comes from. My husband has red hair and mine is Kinda strawberry, but both of my boys have blond. People, friends usually, will comment "Weren't able to squeeze out a red one, huh?" we just laugh, but we never take it in a bad way. However, my husband had a boss who, in front of me, jokingly asked "Are you sure it's yours" Now that is something to take offense at and I assure you I did. Anyhow, try not to take it seriously because people just want to know silly things like this. People rarely ever mean anything by it.
