Hello my name is Becca. I went to Greece just a few months ago. Depending on the hotel you are staying at they speak different languages but if i were you i would learn a few common words in Greek. French is somewhat common in Greece but only because of tourists. Don't listen to people that say of course they do, because in Greece everyone pretty much speaks Greek. Thats why i hired an English tour guide who could very nicely translate for me. Or you could always buy a dictionary of Greek and use that as you go along.

My husband and I went to Greece this past April and stayed at the Divani Caravel Hotel in Athens. They speak English there and it was an absolutely beautiful place - one of the most beautiful I've ever stayed at.

Absolutely! Indeed, most Greeks, in general, know at least a few words in English. In hotels it is a must, so don't worry. I don't think you'll have any problem at all. However, it is always useful to know a few words in Greek.
Even though, they do speak English, they are very pleased to hear that you have respect for their language and individuality by learning at least how to say "Yassas/Yassou"=Hello/Hi, "Efharisto"=Thank you, "Parakalo"=Please, "Signomi"=Sorry, "Kalimera"=Good morning, "Kalispera"= Good afternoon and Good evening, "Kalinihta"=Good night.

Hope you enjoy your trip to Greece!

Good luck!
