I had some blood work done last week and all of a sudden it's a week later and the skin around the area is brused and discolored. Is this normal and what do you think my doctor did to cause this? thanks :)

Kind of funny since this is the first time I got a bruise and the person who did it was an MD for 15 years. Other times it was just nurses.

completely normal. all depends on how well the blood draw was taken. some bruise some dont. i had an IV last week and being dehydrated my veins were not real good for needles they had to "dig" around to get it in and i have had a bruise now for over a week. should heal on its own, but keep an eye on it just in case.

Yes it is normal.

Bruising can take a while to come out.
Could be that you have overused the arm, banged it etc.

Try putting some Arnica Gel or ointment on the area, that will ger rid of the bruise.

It means that whoever was taking your blood broke a few blood vessels on their way in. They were inexperienced, but its nothing to worry about. The bruising will fade in a few days.

Yes it does happen. Sometimes I bruise after donating blood.
