Ooooooooooh man, I was on depo for four years and am so glad I am off of it. There are very many nasty side affects that I am surprised its still allowed to be administered.
I was on it for four years and I am so glad I am oFF of it. I forget to take pills as well, but I put an alarm on my cell phone to go off when it is time to take my pill. You could do that or set your watch. Anything is better than depo!
Check out these links before getting the shot, then decide...

I'm on the injection which is called deprovera. I have already got two children under three years and I am very forgetfull which is why I went for it. No more children please!
Me and alot of my friends have found that our periods have stopped although that is not a given on the injection. You have to have the first injection on the first day of a period of the day after it at the very latest. You then go in every 12 weeks to the day to have the next one. If you are more than three days having the next injection you will have to do a pregnancy test and take it with you to prove you are not pregnant before they give you the shot. I have been lucky and have had no side effects at all. The side effects can include weight gain & irregular bleeding. there are other side effects that can happen but I'm not a doctor, best to speak to your doctor to see if the shot is suitable for you.
The other thing with this injection is if you decide to come off it because you want to try for a baby it can take between 3 months and maybe 2 years for you to start having periods again. Hope this helps a bit x

I got the Depo on June 1996, I was warned that my next period may be early, late, longer, shorter - who knows!!!!
My period came after 3 weeks and didnt stop - I had a bleed for 18 months - yes - thats right - 18 months - every day, every night!!!!
I ended up being on so many different pills to try & stop the bleeding - eventually, I went into hospital to have a camera inserted & they didnt find anything & said that nature had to take its course!
As if this wasnt bad enough - i went from a dress size 12 to a dress size 20 - its taken since 2004 to shift my weight!!!!
I know everyone is different, and there may be some girls out there who have had no problems with the injection, but, if youre on the pill and thats working fine, personlly, I would not take the risk!
Good Luck whatever you decide to do Hun xx

the injection is fantastic if you have trouble remembering to take the pill.
I didnt have any periods and didnt have to worry at all about accidents happening... as long as you remember to go evry 12 weeks for your injection you will be fine!
I was on it for 3 years and didnt have any side effetcs to talk about other than the usual few pounds weight gain that you get with the pill anyway. Though everyone is different.

Don't do the injections or the implants. A lot of women, including myself, had problems with those - including severe mood swings. Stick to the pill - leave them in a location you go to every morning - like the bathroom. Leave them out so you can see them and not forget to take them.

ive been on the depo shot twice... the first time i gained 40 pounds in the 1st month... i even ate less than before.... then just a few months ago i went back on it... cause i couldnt get the iud, and gained 25 lbs... Good luck if thats the route you choose... most women ive talked to have gained weight... but that could be their body chemistry... the iud isnt a bad choice but ive had some female issues to where i couldnt get it...

DONT DO IT .........PLEASE DONT, I took the shot for 6 years and I have now been off if it for 2 years, and I still dont have a regular cycle. I have to take hormones every month just to make myself have a period. I also have been trying to have a baby with no luck.......They should really take the Depo Provera off the market.... Stick with the pill girl, Good Luck
