Yes indeed. All aspects of synthetic oil is superior.

Lets talk about 5W-30 specifically. It's cold temperature pour point is 15 - 20 degrees lower than conventional oil which means it pumps to moving parts quicker on start up and that's precisely where the most engine wear occurs. The high temperature flash point is higher and will resist vaporizing at high temps. It also has an extremely good detergent package to keep your engine clean. The coefficient of friction is lower, fuel economy may increase. The wear / shear point is higher. Every engine needs the best lubrication on the camshaft.

Other than the new LSX Chevrolet Race engine no company produces a block from the factory with pressure lubricators directly on the camshaft. Synthetic oil runs cooler in your engine because there is less friction of all moving parts. Friction causes heat.

Little 4 cylinder motors benefit greatly because they are naturally under more load than a larger V6 or V8.

Many high performance motors come stock from the factory with synthetic oil. The Viper and all Corvettes come to mind.

Every Craftsman Truck, Busch, and Nextel Cup motor has synthetic oil in it. Check out Joe Gibbs Racing Oil on the net. The viscosity's they are using will shock you!

There are different schools of thought on this - most ads for synthetic oil will tell you that it coats your parts better so when you first start the car they are already lubricated.

I've read studies though that show the opposite - claiming that the synthetic oil actually runs off of the parts rather than leaving them coated.

Synthetic oil will last for longer, but it is more expensive. I generally just use standard oil - and haven't ever had problems from any of my cars. The most important thing is to make sure you change any oil you use regularly and replace the filter each time.

Synthetic oil in a sense is better due to the viscosity's builders are man made instead of natural fossil oil. It tends to lubricate better in cold weather & not break down under extream conditions. The intervals for oil changes remain the same so you have to ask yourself ... is it worth the added expense.

some issues to be attentive to approximately man made oil: a million) this is created from "usual" oil -- some share of each and every man made oil, even persons that declare they are "complete man made" are created from especially sophisticated, yet in spite of the shown fact that usual provider oil. the relax share remains in keeping with "usual" oil, although that is been chemically separated and "synthesized" into PAOs and different man made lubricants. the two aspects are then blended, packaged, marketed, and offered. 2) even although this is real that a man made oil will take longer to positioned on out than a usual oil, the ingredients utilized in synthetics are precisely comparable to those utilized in usual oils, and that they positioned on out at *precisely an identical value*. i'm not talking on the subject of the viscosity modifiers (which man made use much less or probable even none), however the ingredients that take care of metallic from corrosion, and particulate surfactants (aka detergents) that help sparkling surfaces, and ingredients that conflict sludge buildup from ring blow-by utilizing, etc. 3) man made oils carry out extra advantageous at severe temperatures than usual oils. it is the area synthetics shine. So, in case you very own an engine that runs warm (turbos, intense compression, etc), or you reside in dying Valley or Alaska, then synthetics are a precious investment. yet interior the common motor vehicle interior the common atmosphere, that on occasion (or never) gets utilized in severe techniques...shop your cash. It won't injury your engine, and it *could* make larger your engine existence...yet to be effortless, maximum persons' autos stay longer than the persons shop their autos.
