To those who are suggesting popup blockers: you are fools, you don't know what you're talking about, quit giving advice out about things you know nothing about!

Sadly, Yahoo Answers is ridden with people who know nothing about a topic but want to give someone else advice about it. If you install any old popup blocker, chances are you'll make the problem worse!

For starters: download Safari. www.apple.com/safari

Use it every time you used to use Internet Explorer (for surfing around the Internet). Takes a bit to get used to, but it really is better. The main thing is, it doesn't let viruses and spyware through the way IE does. And it's also better than Firefox for the time being, I'm not sure how long that will last though (Safari is brand new, people haven't had a chance to develop hacks through it yet).

Anyway, after that, two trustworthy programs are Spybot: Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware SE Personal. Hijack this is also a great program, but it is not very intuitive. It is really more for experts.

If you still have trouble, you need to visit the SpywareInfo forums. There are some helpful people there who can help you out with your specific problem.

You can buy an inexpensive popup blocker or put in google toolbar. Do a search on pop-up blockers--try out a few. Sometimes your own research is the best answer for you.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

download firefox for free, Just have a try:

In Windows, left click on "tools" and hit "internet options". Then click "security" tab, at bottom, go to "custom level" and scroll down that list. you should see a box to check beside "enable pop-up blocker". Good Luck
