My hypothesis:New yorkers (in general) are more genuine than Californians but they have a tough outer shell. Californians are much more friendly at face value , however, in reality it is more of a fake facad.

Peaples Suggestions:
If a Californian moves to NY , then because Californians smile and seem nice , New Yorkers will take advantage of them?

Your view points regarding the hypothesis and peoples suggestions would be appreciated.

I think New York and Cali are like two different planets. I think New York is hustle and bustle and in most parts of Cali the people are very "chill". I would also say that there are fake people in both places, I think that people in California may be a little more obsessed about keeping up appearances. I grew up in New York City and as stated in the previous posts, I have never really noticed that New Yorkers were rude. Some of them are busy which may appear rude because they are always on the go but when it comes down to it some of the nicest and most open minded people in the world reside in NYC.

You'll find rude and fake people in every corner of the world. Californians and New Yorkers are almost day & night though. Complete different state of mind and cultures. Cali does have more of a laid back, chill sort of vibe. While New York is GO GO GO all the time. Not all Californians "seem nice". lol. There are genuinely nice people out here, and there are some not-so-nice people. Im a nice person until someone crosses me. And then it doesnt matter where i'm from, if im pissed, you'll know it. I've been to NY many times and have never been taken advantage of in any way.

It does seem as if more people walk around with a visible chip on their shoulders in NY. I guess it's that whole New York No Bulls.hit mentality. Whatever they wanna call it. And my thing about that is, if u are easily intimidated....it might be a bit much for you there at first. But if you dont allow people to walk over you, and u give them that same no bulls.hit attitude right back...you'll be fine.

I was born in raised in NYC, and I visit Cali atleast once a year b/c I have ALOT of family out there, mainly in the San Fran Bay area. I find that Californians are fake. They are nice to your face, but it is a creepy nice. You find yourself asking "Why is this person talking to me?". New Yorkers on the other hand, are definitely much more genuine. They are real. There is no fakeness or creepy and forced niceness. They won't waste your time and pretend to be your friend (unless you are cute =]) Yeah, we all have attitudes, but attitude is everything, isn't it?

I also think that anyone who comes to NYC without some type of tough outershell will get taken advantage of. If you cannot handle yourself, dont bother coming. It is the greatest city in the world, but if you are not careful, you will hate every minute of being there. I <3 NY!

i grew up in New York but for some time I lived in Californian and what I found is that Californians are fake they are all about appearances and they are quick to talk down about New Yorkers a prime example i can give is something as simple as saying hello how are you? a Californian will say how are you and keep it moving before you can even muster up and answer because they're only saying it because they want to appear to be friendly and genuine a new yorker wont ask at all because lets face it if we don't know you then we really don't care. they're are just on two separate sides of the spectrum as far as I'm concerned

confident, yet we at the instant are not incompatible. i've got customary many New Yorkers in my 40 years in California, and at first the %. drives them loopy. in assessment to manhattan, the %. in California is a lot slower, and individuals are a techniques greater stable to agitate. After awhile they get to savour the %.. If we in simple terms had the Yankees, long island pizza and manhattan Cheesecake, each thing could be suitable! As for going any incorrect way, i've got had some acquaintances who've moved to manhattan. They love the custom, savour the %., or perhaps love Broadway. that's a shame they have not got the Dodgers, yet its an exciting place. a smart guy as quickly as reported "stay in manhattan as quickly as, yet pass away beforehand you get stressful. stay in California as quickly as, yet pass away beforehand you get too comfortable." there is a few fact interior the assertion, yet i've got self assurance you would be chuffed in the two place.

I think they are two entirely different cultures, both with good things and not so good things going for them. I think diversity is a great thing and would be sad if everyone were exactly alike. Asking whether one is more genuine than another is simply being rude tho, and accomplishes very little.

I'm not sure if you can even compare the two. They're completely different.

All I can say is that I live in NYC and people here are much nicer and genuine than people think they are. The people who act rude here are either newbies to the city or tourists, and they think they have to act rude to fit in.

In my experience, some of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever met live here in NYC.
