And most of us get thumbs downs! I know of a couple here in the SA category that get thumbs ups immediately after they answer questions, even if the answers they give is stupid or not relevant. Why do we bicker about this issue? It's not gonna give you any more respect, is it? Did you know that the ones with the most thumbs downs are the most respected here?

I urge you to look at some profiles and see for yourself! Some people give bullshit answers and get good ratings!

Guys why is this an issue???? So what if we get thumbs up or downs. When I give someone thumbs up I will say: Yo Porgie, thumbs up to you?

What's the big issue? Do you guys really take it personal when you get thumbs downs? I don't care if I get thumbs downs, at least I know someone's reading it. At the end of the day that is all that matters right?

The one with the most thumbs down to an answer I ever saw was Wrrrr with 21. I think Ayiza once got15. I doubt that these 2 are "the most respected", Porgie.
In answer to your question: boyfriends, girlfriends, friends, office co-workers, more than one active avatar...we know all these things.

I got a thumbs down for conveying my condolences to one of the SA regulars...that's the first time it struck a chord in me that there's some idiot/s that just give ratings for the sake of it...I'll probably get a thumbs down for this as well

Same as the others: if I agree I give a thumbs up; if not, a thumbs down; and if I don't care I don't rate... Quite simple really, if you think about it.

I suppose its about who you know at times... sigh

Some peoples reasons for thumbing is often so seemingly illogical, I myself cant imagine them giving a reasonable answer as to why they thumbed a person up or down.

I think Ayiza is a bag of smelly lard, but if I agree with his statement I'll give him a thumbs up. Fallen is my soulmate and I think the world of him, but I'll give him a thumbs down if he's talking twaak! If the reply doesnt strike a chord in any direction, I dont feel indebted to thumbing, I leave it be as my life doesnt depend on it.

Its the legacy of apartheid.Seriously I am more used to being reported then removed from the site so a thumbs up/down feels like a bonus.

This isn't a race or a popularity contest. No one will win anything or become a better person for having a thumbs up or down.

It's just a place to come and share your opinions, relevant or otherwise and get to see how your fellow South African views things.
